Physiotherapy at Home: Regaining Movement Without Leaving the House

Physiotherapy plays a critical role in recovery after an injury, illness, stroke, or surgery — but travelling to a clinic for every session can be exhausting, or simply impossible, for patients with limited mobility. Home-based physiotherapy removes that barrier entirely.

Our physiotherapists design a rehabilitation plan around each patient's specific condition, focusing on restoring movement, strength, balance and function through guided exercises, manual therapy and pain management techniques — all within the patient's own home.

Consistency is what makes physiotherapy work, and patients recovering at home, surrounded by family, are often more relaxed and more likely to stick with their programme, which speeds up recovery and reduces the risk of re-injury.

Conditions that respond well to home physiotherapy

  • Stroke and other neurological conditions
  • Recovery after fractures and joint replacement
  • Back pain and arthritis
  • Weakness and poor balance in older adults
  • Children with cerebral palsy or developmental delay

When a clinic is the better choice

Some treatments need clinic equipment or a specialist, such as neuro, pelvic floor or cardiopulmonary physiotherapy. Our sister centre, Teamwork Physiotherapy Centre International in Ntinda, offers these services, and many patients combine home and clinic sessions.

Key points

  • Personalized rehabilitation plans
  • Post-stroke and post-surgery recovery support
  • Pain and mobility management
  • Sessions scheduled around the patient, not a clinic
  • Progress tracked and shared with family
